Welcome

The French American Chemical Society (FACS) is a completely volunteer, non-profit organization that was informally established in 1986 to promote organic chemistry and scientific interactions between France and the United States. The concept of the French American Chemical Society (FACS) and the meetings themselves were initiated by Harvard University Professor and Nobel Prize recipient E.J. Corey and the late Dr. Pierre Potier (Director of the Institute of Natural Products Chemistry in Gif-sur-Yvette, France).

The goal was to increase scientific interactions and collaborations between the two countries. The meetings are about the size of a US Gordon Conference with perhaps 150 or so participants, and are held every two years at alternate locations in France and the US. These meetings are among the few US binational participatory meetings focused on the latest advances in organic chemistry, and they have arguably become the most prestigious of such gatherings.
